Hallcourt Farm is a small, family-run countryside venue in Midgham, tucked between Newbury and Reading, set across 60 acres of rolling fields and ancient woodland.
The old farm buildings have been carefully restored around a stylish courtyard, giving Hallcourt Farm a rare mix of real working-farm character and considered, contemporary design. Weathered by time and shaped by the seasons, it asks nothing of you except to slow down and enjoy it.

The creaky gates at Hallcourt Farm are opening once again - it's our fourth year of Pumpkin Picking, and we can't wait to welcome you back for lots of spooky adventure, fun and games, and the pick of Berkshire's finest pumpkins!
With a spectacular homemade Woodland Walk, giant bale play, monstrous outdoor games and - the BEST bit - pumpkin carving and decorating in our beautiful Halloween-themed barn, this is a wholesome, fun and great-value day out for all the family. (And yes, that's right - the pumpkin mess can stay right here, as it's included in the ticket price!)
We're just a short drive from Reading, Newbury and Thatcham and we have welcomed visitors from as far afield as London, Bath, Oxford and Winchester. We are close enough for an afternoon out, wild enough to feel like a proper adventure.

The family team are so accomodating and attentive the entire time, not your average pumpkin patch! A fabulous woodland walk with plentiful photo opportunities and letters to find on the trail and a lovely treat on return. Really reasonably priced pumpkins and the opportunity to go to the wonderful barn to carve and decorate. Fabulous coffee and crepes. Most of all the children loved running free and playing on the hay bales!

🌲 Wild Woodland Walk
Our homemade spooky trail through the woods (approx. ½km), complete with hand-made Halloween decorations and characters, a puzzle to solve and a prize to collect.
🔪 Pumpkin Carving & Decorating
One of the best bits! Carve and decorate your pumpkin in our Halloween-dressed, oak-framed barn - and leave the mess here!
🌾 Giant Bale Play
Climb, jump and explore our stack of giant hay bales.
🎯 Outdoor Games
Giant space hopper races, welly wanging and pedal tractors.

Serving up delicious teas, coffees, hot chocolates, cakes and bakes, plus warming soups and tasty hot dogs. At weekends from 4pm, we'll also be serving wood-fired pizza.

What our vistors say
A Few Things Worth Knowing
• Dates: open on selected dates from Saturday 17th – Saturday 31st October.
• Times: tickets are sold in half-an-hour arrival slots from 10am – 4pm. The pumpkin patch closes at 5pm.
• Price: tickets are between £6.50 and £7.00 (at weekends) per entry, under 2s are free. There is a £0.30 booking fee per ticket and a transaction fee is added to every sale. Pumpkins priced separately by size, starting at £1.
• Parking: free, on site
• Dogs: because we have sheep and cattle on the farm, we typically say no dogs. But, if we can do so safely, we will offer specific dog friendly days - this year on Sunday 25th and Wednesday 28th October.
• What to wear: wellies, waterproofs and warm clothes recommended - the trail and patch both get muddy
• Baby changing facilities: a bathroom specifically for baby changing is available for use on request
• Age range: best suited to children aged roughly 2–10, though all ages are welcome - and it’s a good laugh for the grown-ups too!
• Getting your pumpkin home: if you have chosen to paint or decorate your pumpkin, we would recommend you bring a bag or box so it makes it home safely – keeping you and your car clean!

Our story
We're the third generation of the Long family to run Hallcourt Farm, and like so many small family farms across the UK, we've had to find new ways to keep it going.
Growing our own pumpkins was the first idea that really took root, and this October marks our fourth year of pumpkin picking. We love it - our children are in their element helping set up the woods, arranging the bale play, and taste-testing every jam and café bake before it goes on sale.
Opening up Hallcourt Farm and sharing it with other families has been one of the great pleasures of farming here, and we hope it's one of the ways we can keep the farm in the family for years to come.

More Than Pumpkins
